South America, Bolivia, ca. early 20th century CE. A beautiful crown made from 73% silver intended to be placed atop a large religious figure called a Santo. The crown features a series of openwork sheets that connect to the interior of the perforated headpiece and culminate at the top with an attached globus cruciger, and several areas of the surface are adorned in fine layers of gilding. Size: 7.875" Diameter x 8.125" H (20 cm x 20.6 cm)
