Western Australia, Aboriginal peoples, ca. early 20th century CE. A fantastic example of a parrying shield, made from dense Mulga wood, with incised possum tooth decoration on the front. Red pigment decorates the face, while the back has two cutout rectangular areas for holding the shield in place. Size: 7.4" W x 21.65" H (18.8 cm x 55 cm); 24.15" H (61.3 cm) on included custom stand.
