E. J. Huber, the son of German immigrants, was from Boonville, Missouri. He apprenticed with Jacob Gmelich, a jeweler and watchmaker, in 1873; from 1882 to 1893, he and Gmelich ran a jewelry company together, then took on another partner and moved elsewhere in Missouri. In 1915, he established his own business in Boonville, which manufactured this ladle. This is a fine piece of Americana, made to be given as a gift, commemorating a wedding, anniversary, or other important occasion.
