**Originally Listed At $100**

West Africa, Nigeria, Yoruba peoples, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A near-miniature Shango staff with a looped handle, a slender neck with three ringed adornments, and a paddle-shaped top portion. The handle has a strand of tubular, multi-colored beads strung through it, and the neck displays a similar beaded strand as well. The head and portions of the handle display remnants of its original paint in faded hues of orange, yellow, red, and black; the exterior is now covered in a light-brown patina. Shango staves are carried by both male and female members of the Sango cult in their dedication to Sango, the Yoruba god of lightning and thunder. Size: 5.5" L (14 cm).
