Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Angola, and Zambia, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A sturdy carved wood maternity figure, showing a nude female holding a small child in her arms. The wood has been painted black, with traces of white pigment at the eyes and alternating white and red dots as a necklace. Comes with custom stand. Size: 4.75" L x 5.25" W x 16.1" H (12.1 cm x 13.3 cm x 40.9 cm); height on stand: 16.35" (41.5 cm).

Figures like this one come in a wide variety of styles, and were often used as petitions or prayers for fertility or successful births.
