Central Asia, Afghanistan, ca. early 20th century CE. An attractive example of a woven textile wedding hat, with pink, purple, green, red, silver, and gold thread, capped by two rings of rounded tin bosses and with dangling tin threads sewn around the rim. Made to be worn in a traditional wedding ceremony of the Pashtun people. Size: 7.75" W x 3.5" H (19.7 cm x 8.9 cm); 13" H (33 cm) on included custom stand.

  • Condition: Slight fading to textile, especially on top, but the band around the forehead remains brightly colored. Separation of top and band around approximately one third of the piece. Tin has slight bending with nice patina.
