Description:

North America, Mexico, ca. early to mid-19th century CE. A lovely sidearm sword with two-part octagonal handle and an iron pommel plug. The slender guard resembles an abstract serpent with one tightly curved terminal and another, longer terminal with a curled tip. The elongated triangular blade has sharpened edges along the periphery, a pointed tip, and a prominent midrib on one side, with the verso being slightly concave as is typical with Spanish bayonet blades. Fine patina envelops each component and makes this an attractive example of Mexican arms! Size: 25.125" L x 4.1" W (63.8 cm x 10.4 cm).
