Europe, Italy, Luigi Rossini (Italian, 1790-1857), "Il Foro Romano dal Volgo Campo Vaccino, Roma", ca. 1815 to 1830 CE. An etching depicting a view of the Roman Forum from the Vaccine Field with the Via Sacra, the Arch of Septimus Severus in the left foreground, engraved by Luigi Rossini who was an architect, painter, and etcher. Born in Ravenna on December 15, 1790, he studied at Bologna, created significant etchings including "Views of Rome", "Journey from Rome to Naples" recording the most beautiful views along the Appian Way, and a monumental work depicting the seven hills of Rome.   • Condition: Minor creasing to margins and tiny tears to peripheries. Faint creases to image, but otherwise etching is excellent. Embossed stamp from calcografia (intaglio printing) firm on lower right.
