Description:

South Asia, India, ca. early to mid 19th century CE. A wonderful window panel known as a jali with a wooden frame and a hand-forged iron screen of interlocking, ovoid/circular latticework that is designed to lower the temperature in a building by compressing the air as it passes through the holes. Imagine the beautiful shadows and light interplay that would have occurred when the sun shone through this window! Size: 21.5" W x 22.75" H (54.6 cm x 57.8 cm)
