**Originally Listed At $800**

New World, New Mexico, USA, Spanish Colonial style, ca. early to mid 19th century CE. A large Cristo figure made from a natural branching tree trunk with a carved face and beard. Two thinner branches extend from the arms, probably where there were once hands attached. Wooden santo carving has been preserved as a folk art in small communities in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico. This is a fine example incorporating a natural piece of wood from the region. Size: 21" W x 31.25" H (53.3 cm x 79.4 cm); 35.5" H (90.2 cm) on included custom stand.
