Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chimu, ca. 1000 to 1300 CE. A lovely mold-made polychrome bird effigy vessel, its visage presenting a hooked beak resembling that of a parrot, with a slightly flared cylindrical spout emerging from the top center of the avian form, surrounded by twin perforated lugs for suspension. The feathers on the orangeware body are painted with a cream-hued slip, and interestingly, the bird has four dangling pendants that are further detailed with a black concentric circular motif, as well as a black spiraled, wave-like pattern lining its wings. Size: 6.75" L x 4.75" H (17.1 cm x 12.1 cm)
