Description:

Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd period CE. A lovely 18K gold ring with a beautiful carnelian cabochon of vibrant vermilion hues. Roman women - especially of the upper classes - adored jewelry, and jewelry was particularly important to women in Roman society because legally it was their own property, independent of their husband's wealth, and they could use it as they saw fit. A wonderful example, most likely made for a child or a woman's pinky! US Ring Size: 1.5; Size: .75" in diameter (1.9 cm); cabochon measures .25" W (0.6 cm); Total Weight: 1.9 grams
