Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Deborah Clark (American, Contemporary). Mixed media sculptural figure, 2004. Signed and dated on stone base. Impressive for its artistry as well as its size, a striking Native American figure wearing traditional dress elaborately decorated with fur pelts and leather. The man presents a realistic visage with painted white vertical striations running from his forehead over his eyes to his cheeks, and his serious expression is framed by long brown hair and a white fur headdress. Voluminous layers of white and brown fur pelts cascade over the core of his body which is wrapped in a colorful garment adorned with traditional motifs that coordinate with a colorful beaded necklace, and he holds a white fringed leather bag. Finally, the tall figure stands upon a large piece of natural stone that is hand-signed by the artist. Size: 33" H (83.8 cm)

Provenance: private Goldstein collection, Denver, Colorado, USA. The Goldstein's have amassed their collection over the past six decades.
