Theodore R. Davis (American, 1840-1894). "Saratoga Springs and Vicinity - Scene of the Inter-Collegiate Regatta" - a wood engraving, 1874. Drawn and engraved expressly for "Harper's Weekly" (July 25, 1874) from sketches by Theodore R. Davis, and issued as a supplement, the composition is impressive for its size and detail. In the foreground, nine sixman collegiate crews compete on Saratoga Lake. In the middle ground, Davis presents the renowned race course and the city of Saratoga Springs extending beyond. Davis has also identified major streets as well as the boathouses of various colleges on the lakeshore. Perfect for any fan of crew or Saratoga Springs! Size: 17.5" L x 28.75" W (44.4 cm x 73 cm)
