Description:

Greece, Cyprus, Archaic Period, ca. 7th century BCE. A pottery jug with twin horizontal handles at its widest point, a narrowed neck, and a flared, wide rim. The jar is painted with a series of rings in brown around the buff-colored body. These ring motifs are common in Cypriot pottery specific to this time period - it must have been a trendy fashion! Size: 9" W x 9" H (22.9 cm x 22.9 cm)

Provenance: private New York, USA collection; ex T. Z. collection, Munich, Germany, before 1992; ex Carola van Ham, collection, Cologne, Germany
