Lot 259
Greece, ca. 5th to 4th centuries BCE. This is a small redware pottery votive figure with a hollow, rectangular base, in the form of a standing pig. This would have been kept on display in a god's sanctuary, probably sold outside of a temple, bought by patrons wishing to give an offering; animal sacrifices were common and this item would have been a symbolic recreation of that. Size: 3" L x 1.25" W x 2.25" H (7.6 cm x 3.2 cm x 5.7 cm)
