Description:

**Originally Listed At $400**

Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Central Highlands, Atlantic Watershed, ca. 1000 to 1400 CE. A fascinating figure skillfully hand-carved from volcanic stone to appear squatting atop an integral plinth with elbows on knees and hands covering face in a pose reminiscent of Mizaru, the "see no evil" monkey. The figure displays a round head with giant ears atop a slender build. Vertical striations line the top and verso of the head, perhaps intended as a coiffure, while incised horizontal lines around the waist and wrists are suggestive of a belt and bangles. Size: 3" W x 9.3" H (7.6 cm x 23.6 cm)
