Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, ca. 1100 to 1300 CE. A petite terracotta ocarina of a squat, globular body with an adorable monkey perched atop, his hands playfully supporting his chin, his long, curled tail raised up to graze the back of his head, with some remains of white slip. Four sound holes make for a variety of fingering patterns and sounds. Perforations through the end opposite the mouthpiece for suspension. Size: 3.5" L x 2.5" W x 2.75" H (8.9 cm x 6.4 cm x 7 cm)
