Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, Guanacaste / Nicoya, ca. 600 to 800 CE. A beautiful polychrome tripod vessel comprised of a large bowl supported by three hollow abstract zoomorphic feet with sculpted mouths and painted details in addition to containing small rattle balls. Red and black linear bands accentuate the exterior walls and the interior is embellished with a pair of zoomorphic faces separated by abstract geometric forms adorned with striations, dotted passages (perhaps representing jaguar coats), and cross-hatch motifs. Size: 7.5" W (foot to foot) x 4.25" H (19 cm x 10.8 cm)
