Description:

Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, Guanacaste / Nicoya region, ca. 200 to 600 CE. A serpentine avian axe god, the lower section a nice celt form, the upper section resembles a crested bird with drilled eyes and a triangular beak. Drilled through the neck for suspension, and the reverse has a slight ridge from hewing out of a larger rock and / or carving. Size: 8.5" L x 1.75" W (21.6 cm x 4.4 cm); 9.75" H (24.8 cm) on included custom stand.
