Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Nicoya region, ca. 200 to 600 CE. A hand-carved and string-cut celt pendant bearing the likeness of an abstract avian-headed figure. The aviform head exhibits a tapered triangular beak flanked by a pair of shallow, drilled eyes, and above the head are twin tuft nodules projecting from the top of the brow. In addition to its intriguing form, the stone is inherently beautiful presenting pastel green hues and nice lighter veining. Size: 0.7" L x 1.25" W x 3.3" H (1.8 cm x 3.2 cm x 8.4 cm); 4.1" H (10.4 cm) on included custom stand.
