Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Guanacaste/Nicoya region, ca. 200 to 600 CE. An intriguing celt pendant carved from mottled grey-green stone with beige and citrine inclusions. The celt has a wide blade head and a sharpened edge, a slightly tapered body with attenuated arms wrapped across the chest, and angular shoulders. The abstract head features a broad triangular nose, a pointed chin, drilled eyes, perky ears, and an incised groove delineating the forehead, all beneath a pair of abstract lizard heads that comprise the coiffure. A biconically-drilled suspension hole through the neck enables this to be a wearable example of fine Costa Rican artistry! Size: 1.8" W x 2.875" H (4.6 cm x 7.3 cm); 3.6" H (9.1 cm) on included custom stand.
