Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, Guanacaste / Nicoya region, ca. 200 to 600 CE. An interesting standing figure with minimalist features, hand-carved from a mottled pale-green stone with dark inclusions. The obverse face displays abstract avian characteristics like slanted eyes, a triangular beak, delineated waist line, and a furrowed brow, all formed via the meticulous string-cutting method. The figure is biconically-drilled through the neck as well as from top to bottom for suspension. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 1.4" W x 3.7" H (3.6 cm x 9.4 cm); 4.375" H (11.1 cm) on included custom stand.

Surface wear and abrasions commensurate with age, small nicks to drilled suspension holes, and fading to string-cut details. Light earthen deposits throughout.
