**Originally Listed At $300**

Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, Chiriqui, ca. 1200 to 1500 CE. An impressive, hand-built pottery tripod vessel presenting a bulbous form with a rounded bottom, a corseted neck, and a flared rim, all sitting upon 3 conical legs adorned with seated birds at the top and ending in petite paw-like feet. The ancient avian creatures face upwards, each lengthy beak spiraling forward to touch the exterior of the bowl from below huge, bulging eyes and a prominent crest, as their wings fold at their sides. Embellished in hues of russet, cream, and light orange, the fascinating vessel is elaborately painted with geometric motifs of triangular and polka dot designs, as well as many diagonal striations. Size: 6.1" Diameter x 5.1" H (15.5 cm x 13 cm)
