Description:

Central to Northeastern Asia, late Miocene to early Pliocene, ca. 11.6 to 3.6 million years ago. A complete fossilized skull from a prehistoric pig-like species known as Chleuastochoerus! The bone is a chalky white hue, the jaws closed with the teeth visible at the side and front, the canines are partially present as well! The elongated snout would have been ideal for rooting around and digging for food- their habitat probably consisted of a forest edge or steppe land. Chleuastochoerus skulls are relatively rare, and little is known about this species - a wonderful opportunity to obtain an uncommon specimen! Size: 8" L x 3.5" W x 3.5" H (20.3 cm x 8.9 cm x 8.9 cm)

Provenance: private New Jersey, USA collection, acquired from an old collection made prior to 1984
