A lively carved wooden festival mask, the happy visage presenting an inset toothy smile, twinkly lashed openwork eyes, a minimalist curved protruding nose, and long attached wooden horns. The surface of the face is finely incised with curved lines and beautifully painted in hues of aqua, red, green, black, white, and gold. Wonderful character and aesthetic. Size: 7.5" W x 10.25" H (19 cm x 26 cm)

Provenance: Ex-private collection of American ex-patriate woman who lived in remote area near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico from 1970 to 1990.
