Description:

Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Tairona, ca. 1000 to 1550 CE. A special owl effigy tripod vessel with a rounded body, applied wing handles and tail, the avian figure's head with a lively visage skillfully delineated via applied and modeled forms on the neck, and a flared rim. Further embellishing the body is a band of intricately incised patterns comprised of weave-like designs surrounding abstract floral motifs, all framed by a decorative border. White pigment highlights on the face and decorative band complement the redware finish quite nicely. Size: 4.875" in diameter x 5.625" H (12.4 cm x 14.3 cm)
