The Anasazi Native Americans of the southwest, infamous for their grand kivas, also made jewelry. Turquoise jewelry became popular at about 400 CE. By the time of the Great Pueblo phase, ca 1100 CE, the Anasazis were trading extensively and their jewerlry was prized. This grouping features an impressive assortment of such treasures including a clay bead necklace with turquoise pendants, four greenstone pendants, and approximately fifteen shell pendants and beads. -- Anasazi Jewelry in a Riker frame, including 4, 2.5"Dia. shell bracelets, a 30" clay bead necklace with turquoise pendants, 4 greenstone pendants and an additional 15 or so various shell pendants and beads. Provenance: Ex-Gary Majors Collection, Safford County, AZ, ex-New World Artifacts, San Diego, CA.
