Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 200 BCE to 200 CE. Terracotta vessel with tripod feet, surface highly burnished (polished), featuring lobed exterior associated with squash forms. Interestingly, the three tripod feet are in the form of abstract parrots, symbolically important animals often featured in Colima iconography. Size: 8"W (20.32 cm) at the widest x 5-1/2"H (13.97 cm). Provenance: Ex-private Houston, TX collection acquired at auction or local gallery between 1982 and 1994.
