Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 200 BCE - 200 CE. An rare Colima anthropomorphic terracotta flute made in the form an elongated, stylized human figure with hands held to mouth and coffee bean style eyes. The instrument has two whistles in the head and finger holes in the legs. The flute is playable and both whistles work well. 6 7/8" (17.5 cm) long. Provenance: Ex-private San Francisco, CA collection, acquired prior to 1990.
