Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A beautifully-shaped stone mace head made of a grey-green stone, smoothed with sandstone, depicting twin frog heads in a Janus-figure position. These heads are suggested through simple hollows and valleys. The Colima people made ritual objects that reflected the animals they saw around them. This mace head was clearly designed to be held as a symbol of power or status, with no signs of wear or use. Size: 3.1" L x 2.2" W x 2.35" H (7.9 cm x 5.6 cm x 6 cm)
