Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-built redware pottery bowl with a round but stable base as well as the limbs and head of a stylized anthropomorphic figure projecting from the front. The vermilion-hued walls are adorned with several bands of incised segments that create a ladder-like effect across the composition. Size: 7.75" L x 7.1" W x 5.2" H (19.7 cm x 18 cm x 13.2 cm)

  • Condition: Repaired with areas of restoration, and resurfacing with overpainting along new material and break lines. Abrasions and fading to pigment, with softening to some finer details, and light earthen deposits. Nice preservation to figure and most original incised motifs.
