Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A charming redware jar with a bulbous form and horned shoulder suggestive of a squash, a narrow neck, and flared mouth. Incised around the lower body are strong vertical lines; above these, on the broad shoulder, are incised motifs that resemble eyelids with eyelashes. Size: 8.55" W x 8.25" H (21.7 cm x 21 cm)

Provenance: private Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA collection; ex-Minerva Gallery; ex-Benjamin Vega, California, USA, acquired in 2006 to 2007; ex-Gene and Virginia George, brought to the USA from 1961 to 1966
