Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A solid pottery standing warrior holding a large rectangular shield and a club in his right hand. He wears a large helmet strapped to his head with cloth bands; the helmet is also a working whistle. A massive, turkey-tail-feathers-like cape is on the back of the figure, and a heavy yoke is around the waist. A very detailed sculpture! Size: 3.75" W x 6.5" H (9.5 cm x 16.5 cm); 7.8" H (19.8 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Lexington, Kentucky, USA collection, acquired in the 1900s from Irwin Hearsey who acquired it in the 1960s
