Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. An impressive burnished redware depiction of a shaman warrior child - seated in a striking pose. One hand is raised high behind his head securely holding an ax, while the other is raised to his mouth with thumb extended in a child-like manner. His minimalist facial features include pecan-form eyes, a small, protruded nose, and a slit-form mouth with slightly parted lips. He is accessorized with a pair of youth sized ear spools, a large circular pendant connected to an incised double-stranded neck cord, and a horned headdress. An opening atop the head enabled this vessel to be used as a vessel. Size: 10.5" W x 14" H (26.7 cm x 35.6 cm)
