Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery shaman figure standing atop delineated legs and broad feet. The figure has an incised waistband and wields a massive club in both hands for an intimidating presentation. The conical head features coffee bead eyes, a prominent nose, full lips, and drooping ears with large perforations. A cone atop his head denotes his status as a shaman. Size: 9.25" W x 17.625" H (23.5 cm x 44.8 cm)
