Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A lovely pair of pottery figures, one male and one female, skillfully hand-built to display square shoulders, short arms, slender waists, bowed legs, delineated genitalia, and elongated heads. Standing nude with arms at their sides, each ancient figure is adorned with an arch-like headdress, annular earspools, and an applied necklace. Both of their stylized countenances exhibit serene expressions, each with coffee bean-shaped eyes, a sharp nose, and a straight mouth. Size of largest: 2.5" W x 7.2" H (6.4 cm x 18.3 cm)

  • Condition: Female figure repaired from 4 pieces with break lines visible. Male figure has reattached head with restoration over break lines and restored proper left arm. Both have expected minor nicks and abrasions. Otherwise, both are excellent with nice manganese deposits.
