Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery female figure lying atop a rectangular bed, perhaps a funerary plinth or a birthing table. The nude woman lays with relaxed limbs and arms secured with a single strap, and her elongated head rests atop a protruding pillow. Traces of red pigmentation visible across the composition suggest that the figure was at one time painted with vibrant pigments. Size: 2.4" W x 5.1" H (6.1 cm x 13 cm); 2.375" H (6 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection; ex-Roy Oswald collection, Arizona, USA, acquired before 2000
