Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, Protoclassic period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-built pottery female figure standing atop delineated legs and miniscule feet. Her portly abdomen hangs over her waist line and traces upwards to globular breasts flanked by attenuated arms. Coffee-bean-shaped eyes, a conical nose, a smiling mouth, and shell-adorned ears comprise her serene visage, and her characteristically elongated brow is capped with applied hair fillets. Thick layers of yellow ochre and red pigment cover the buffware figure, and applied black stripes embellish the front of her legs, face, and body. Size: 3.9" W x 8.25" H (9.9 cm x 21 cm); 8.7" H (22.1 cm) on included custom stand.
