Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima-Michoacán, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built seated female figural brownware vessel, nude with delineated genitalia and large nipples, bedecked with earspools, a pectoral with matching pendant, armbands, and headdress which also forms the flared spout, her body further adorned with extensive black striations representing tattoos or body paint and applied shoulder pellets. The style and shoulder ornaments suggest Coahuayana Valley type. Size: 5.5" L x 11.5" W x 14.125" H (14 cm x 29.2 cm x 35.9 cm)

Published and exhibited at "East/West Ancient American Art from the Coastal Regions of Mexico" from January 25th through April 30th, 2000 at William King Regional.
