Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A fine example of a hand-carved stone celt bearing lustrous black hues interspersed with beige veins. The celt exhibits an elongated trapezoidal form with a sturdy butt end, stone-polished faces with a smooth texture, and a lightly flared head with protruding corners. Size: 3.25" W x 7.1" H (8.3 cm x 18 cm); 8.3" H (21.1 cm) on included custom stand.
