Pre-Columbian, Central America, Panama, Gran Cocle, ca. 900 to 1100 CE. A delightful pottery dish presenting a shallow basin and low pedestal foot. Hand-painted in hues of black, beige, and orange, the interior is divided into quadrants, each containing the figure of a zoomorphic creature, perhaps a turtle or monkey, with spread limbs, exaggerated claws, and a petite, tapered tail. Size: 10.4" Diameter x 1.4" H (26.4 cm x 3.6 cm)
