Classical World, northern/central Italy, Etruria, Etruscan culture, ca. 4th century BCE. An elegant, wheel-thrown, pottery oinochoe of a tall and graceful form exhibiting an annular foot, an inverted piriform body, a cylindrical neck with a 'beaked' pouring spout, and a handle joining rim to shoulder. All save the foot is enveloped in a lustrous black glaze with areas of faint iridescence and earthen encrustations evocative of ancient Etruria! Size: 5" W x 9.3" H (12.7 cm x 23.6 cm)
