Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A flat pottery figure in the "gingerbread" style with plenty of applied details. These include a large pectoral and headdress whose decorations look like ceramic models of feathers - feathers were a sign of royalty in many Mesoamerican cultures, so this must represent a high ranking personage. Size: 4.3" W x 7.45" H (10.9 cm x 18.9 cm)

The figure wears a loincloth and twin bracelets above the elbow. The face is smooth, aside from a large nose; twin holes drilled in the ears show where it would once have had metal rings, real feathers, or some other bright decoration.
