Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Guanajuato Valley, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 BCE to 300 CE. A pleasing ensemble of 3 pottery vessels, each in the shape of a slipper with a pointed toe and a flared spout at the mouth of the shoe. The orange dish displays a ribbon-form handle extending from the heel tab area and ending midway down the shoulder as it sits upon a round yet stable base. Alternatively, the other 2 jars are incised with floral motifs filled with red pigment on either a black or orange ground. The more petite vessel is supported by a planar base, while the black features 3 nubbin feet. Size of largest: 4.7" L x 3.3" W x 3.5" H (11.9 cm x 8.4 cm x 8.9 cm)

  • Condition: Most petite vessel has been repaired with some losses along break lines and area of loss to rim. Orange vessel has chip to toe. All have chipping to rims and light surface wear. Otherwise, 2 larger are intact and all are very nice with great pigments.
