Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery figure known as a 'pretty lady' with delineated legs, a twisted belt, attenuated arms, and a broad chest adorned with a hoop-form medallion. The abstract visage is comprised of impressed ovoid eyes, a petite triangular nose, a miniscule mouth, discoid earspools, and a pointed chin, all beneath a centrally-parted coiffure accentuated with a large roundel with serrated edges. Faint red and red-orange pigment adorns the head and body of the figure. Size: 1.9" W x 3.3" H (4.8 cm x 8.4 cm); 3.7" H (9.4 cm) on included custom stand.
