Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery bowl of hemispherical form bearing an attractive bichrome motif along the bottom. Red checkerboard panels are displayed opposite undecorated beige-hued panels while the upper rim is adorned with abstract geometric patterns, perhaps representing fish or birds. Size: 7.5" L x 7.375" W x 2.5" H (19 cm x 18.7 cm x 6.4 cm)
