Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Mexico, Teotihuacan, ca. 3rd to 7th century CE. A gorgeous hand-built terracotta brownware bowl with three nubbin-shaped legs, a flat bottom, curved walls, a dramatic flared rim, and a shallow interior cavity. The exterior displays a repeating abstract decorative program of incised curvilinear bands colored in white, perhaps suggestive of clouds or avian figures. The vessel has a well-burnished surface and is incredibly smooth to the touch. The light-brown hue envelops the majority of visible surfaces, and darkened areas near the base are the result of fire-clouding. A fantastic example of ancient Mexican craftsmanship! Size: 6.375" W x 2.375" H (16.2 cm x 6 cm).
