Description:

Pre-Columbian, Western Bolivia, Chiribaya culture, ca. 900 to 1200 CE. A hand-built redware pottery bowl with a flat base, rolled walls, a thick rim surrounding the shallow basin, and a petite ring handle on one side. The highly burnished bowl is intricately decorated within the basin with broad red and brown areas outlined in black, white stippling surrounded by large stepped motifs, and a fuchsia-hued ring surrounding the center. Petite white spots adorn the rim of the vessel, and the underside is unadorned. Size: 6.875" W x 2.875" H (17.5 cm x 7.3 cm)

  • Condition: Minor nicks and abrasions to base, walls, rim, and handle, with minor fading and chipping to original pigment, and light encrustations, otherwise intact and very good. Nice craquelure on remaining original pigment. Old inventory labels beneath base with one inside basin walls.
