Description:

China, Zhou to Qin Dynasty, Ca 700 to 207 BCE. Bronze ladle - which on its own is wonderful, but not necessarily unique. What makes this extraordinary, stamped in the center is a good-luck charm very similar in design and form to some of the earliest currency minted in China during this period - complete with squared hole in center like coins minted between 300 and 200 BCE. Another decorative element adorns where handle joins bowl. 12-3/4" long x 5-1/2" wide. PROVENANCE: Ex-Sarkisian Collection, Denver, CO All items in this auction are legal to buy/sell under U.S. statute covering cultural patrimony per United States Code 2600, CHAPTER 14 -- CONVENTION ON CULTURAL PROPERTY, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. • Condition: Small area where rim has cracked with slight separation from bowl, otherwise excellent.
